Lol, I wish x

Anonymous: i was listening to anna's interview on EVR and during it they asked her if her 2nd album would take 2 years to make, like the 1st and she said it wouldn't take that long. she said she has been working on her 2nd album since feb last year at the brit awards and now it's may so nearly a year and half already and still no announcement about anything to do with it at all! :( - sad fan

Yeah. We just have to be patient. It does come out this year and I suppose you can presume before November, if she’s already touring by then.

Anonymous: Straight up choice: watching Anna Calvi play "The Devil" instrumental on a washboard and/or spoons, or watching Brian Eno fulfilling his role as Anna's "protector" by having to fight off a crowd of hormonally charged teenage girls?

How the fuck do you come up with these questions? #seriously

But I’ll go with the washboard reimagining of The Devil.

If they release the song as a single, then probably not? They seem like they have that whole movie theme happening for the album already.

Me too! I love it so much, I think it gets better every time I listen to it.

Anonymous: When/where were you lucky enough to see St Vincent live in New Zealand? I live here too (in Auckland), and I hope for my sanity it was before I started listening to her or I'll be furious at my past self. Sorry, I know this is an Anna Calvi blog but it seems we all love them both anyway!

Oh don’t worry… I saw her live in Sydney, not Auckland. But she did play Auckland in I think March last year and I never went either :(

Haha, it’s fine <3 Also omg at there being another Anna Calvi fan in Auckland! Did you go to Laneway last year?

Anonymous: Annie or Anna?

Anna. No doubt about it.

Even though I have met Annie twice and she’s so lovely, so I feel kind of bad having to choose...

Anonymous: Don't you think David Byrne & St. Vincent feels like a really weak album?

I saw their concert twice and it works much better as a show. It was so much fun! But yeah, it didn’t quite translate to the album. I don’t think the full on brass band works so well on the album and a lot of the songs I skip when I listen to it, when they were actually good live. I think the concept was cool but I’d have rather had a fourth album from St. Vincent than that collaboration definitely.

Anonymous: Would you like Anna to do a collaboration album à la David Byrne & St. Vincent one day? Who with?

Hmm, not really. A song or 2 would be nice, but if it was a whole album, I think I would just start wishing she had done it by herself. That was how I felt with Love This Giant at some points to be honest.
